Carlisle Lake District Airport witnessed an unusual and exciting arrival this week as the BETA Technologies ALIA CTOL, a fully electric aircraft, touched down as part of its European demonstration tour.
The aircraft arrived from Leeds East Airport and made a scheduled stop to recharge before continuing its journey to Glasgow. As electric aviation infrastructure is still developing across Europe, the aircraft is supported by a dedicated lorry equipped with a mobile power supply, ensuring it can operate even at airports without permanent charging facilities.
The visit highlights the growing momentum behind sustainable aviation and offers a glimpse into the future of low-emission air travel.
