U.S. Air Force CV-22 Osprey Visits CLDA

An unusual visitor

CLDA experienced a rare and impressive sight in December with the arrival of a U.S. Air Force CV-22 Osprey, which stopped at the airport for refuelling. The aircraft is based at RAF Mildenhall and was welcomed as part of its ongoing operations.

The CV-22 Osprey is a unique tilt-rotor aircraft, capable of vertical take-off and landing like a helicopter while also achieving the speed and range of a fixed-wing aircraft. Its distinctive design and capabilities made for an eye-catching visit, drawing interest from staff and observers alike.

Such visits highlight CLDA’s ability to accommodate a diverse range of aircraft and support international aviation operations.
